Mena Alexandra Suvari (born February 13 1979) is an American model and actress. She is also a fashion designer model. Soon after she began her professional career as an actress, Mena Alexandra Suvari appeared in guest roles for 1990s TV shows Boy Meets World and High Incident. She had her first film performance in 1997's drama Nowhere. Her performances were in American Beauty, for which she won a BAFTA Award nomination and American Pie led to her being the subject of more attention. She's appeared alongside American Pie's co-star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) as well as the main character on the screen in Sugar & Spice (2001). Spun is an independent film that aired in 2002, and the action film Trauma (2004) was the two films she has made her most recent appearances. She also starred in the HBO drama Six Feet Under. She received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in for 2005, as part of the Outstanding Ensemble. In 2008, she was included in a variety of films, including Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the adaptation film to The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been a model on behalf of Lancome Paris Adaptive, and she has also appeared on several blogs and fashion magazines, including Vogue. Suvari has been a supporter and an advocate for the African Medical and Research Foundation for a number of years. She has been a vocal advocate in the cause of female empowerment as well as a participant of a number of organizations fighting breast cancer, or an End Violence Against Women movement.
